Special Note: Before Lori Schulz became a paranormal radio personality, she was also a model.
Question: Lori, tell me something personal about yourself, such as your family life, hobbies, recreational activities, schools you went to, etc.
Answer: I am a mother of three beautiful children, Timmy, Rain and Josie. I grew up in Wisconsin and moved out to California after high school. I am a full time Realtor in Lincoln, CA and I am, also, a radio talk show host at KMYC 1410am in Marysville, CA. My show is called The Dirt and my first series is called “Beyond the Dark”.
I love camping and hiking on my free time. One of my favorite pass times with friends or family is going wine tasting.
Question: You have a keen interest in the paranormal, how come you are so interested in the paranormal?
Answer: I have a personal interest in the paranormal because of being a Christian and knowing that there is life after death. I have many close personal friends and family that I trust enough to know that their personal experiences with the paranormal are credible.
Question: Big question….how did you get involved with radio?
Answer: I actually got involved with radio by chance. I have a real estate billboard that the radio manager happen to see and they called me and asked if I was interested in having a real estate talk show to fill in a spot where a show had just dropped out. I went up to the station with my broker at American Home Realty, Scott Swenson, and after our conversation with the radio station owner, Tom Huth, my broker encouraged me to take the opportunity. I eventually changed my real estate show to The Dirt and started focusing on my interest in the paranormal.
Question: Your show is called The Dirt, what are the call signs of your radio show?
Answer: KMYC 1410, Marysville, CA
www.ontheradio.net/kmyc
Question: Your radio show is expanding, can you explain?
Answer: My show went from one hour every Saturday night from 5-6pm to every Saturday from 5-7pm. Our owner just purchased another station that will be broadcast in the Sacramento area and my show will be airing on that show as well.
Question: Tell us some more personal stuff about you. What are your favorite movies, TV shows, books and your favorite song?
Answer: I like watching scary movies like 1408 or anything like that. I love comedy like How to Lose a Guy in 10days or Sweet Home Alabama. The Wedding Planner is personal favorite of mine because I was a movie extra in it and was a great experience seeing how movies are made and to meet Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez.
I really don’t have a favorite song because I love music too much to nail it down to one. Depending on my mood or situation, I really enjoy heavy metal, hip hop, some rap. I like country rock because of growing up in the Midwest. They love country back there!
As far as TV…love the ghost hunting type shows and Bigfoot shows as well. I love listening to Art Bell on Coast to Coast when I am enjoying the radio. I love being physically active. I work out during the week and try to keep healthy with my eating habits. I feel better when I know I am taking care of myself.
Question: Do you travel much and if you do, where have you been?
Answer: I don’t travel too much, but I have been to almost every state in the US and have been to Mexico and Canada. I would love to go to Europe and a few other places someday.
Question: If you have 6 dinner guests, 3 historical, 3 fictional, who would they be?
Answer: I am not too sure if these people would be considered “historical”, but I would want Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Geronimo, Iron Man, Wolverine, She-ra,
Question: Being a radio personality in Marysville, do you meet many celebrities and if you have, who are they?
Answer: I met you!!:-) With my show being just a baby, I am sure that I will meet more and more interesting people. You have been a blessing to me and my show, and you will always be someone that I give my show credit to have met.
Question: What are some of the most interesting guests that have been on your show?
Answer: Aside from you, I have met quite a few interesting people. I enjoy my callers and their willingness to share their experiences with me. I have had other investigators, like Roland Paranormal. I have interviewed authors and one of my favorites is Heaven Liegh Eldeen. Psychics like Lizzy Silva and Chantal Apodaca!
My co-hosts have ranged from co-hosts from other great shows on our station, like Paul Preston from Inside Education and Agenda 21, Gunner from Gunner and the Goose, and my best friends, Melissa Pleich and Dee Kupsky. I have had my kids on my show and my sisters, Becki and Bonni as well. My parents have been my sweet loyal listeners and have also called in with some great input. (Randy and Kate Klemp) My uncle is Yooper John and he is my UFO informant and enthusiast. I appreciate everyone that has either been on or listening to my show.
Question: Since you do a few paranormal investigations on the side, where have you investigated and what was the most interesting case?
Answer: I have done small and unofficial investigating on my own out of pure curiosity and fun with family and friends. I have only been to two official investigations.
One was at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Marysville, CA and the other was at Beerman’s in Lincoln, CA. The one up at the Silver Dollar Saloon we actually had a remote show there and Roland Paranormal Investigations were the ones conducting the investigation. The Beerman’s investigation was conducted by you and your team at HPI! Both were very fun and interesting. I am looking forward more places and new faces!!
Question: Where are some of your future paranormal investigations?
Answer: One that I am really looking forward to is being held at the Casa Ramos in Chico. My sponsor for my show, Raul Lacona, (owner of the Casa Ramos that sponsors me in Lincoln and the owner of the Casa Ramos in Chico as well) has invited us to investigate his Chico restaurant because his employees are seeing full bodied apparitions. That will be taking place in July. There will be others coming up as well, so stay tuned to The Dirt!
Question: Have you ever had your own personal paranormal experience and if you have, can you explain?
Answer: I have had a couple of different experiences. One has impacted me the most. It happened at my Grandma’s passing. I knew that she was leaving because she 'touched' me before leaving and my sisters were there as witness.
I, also, had an experience with my ex-husband when we were traveling once. We saw these silver ufo type balls. We were very scared and intrigued at the same time.
Question: As a public figure, where do you want to be in 5 years?
Answer: Five years seems like a long time to predict, but I am hoping to be more established in radio by then. I am sure that I will still be in real estate as well, since I love it!
Question: How can people contact you? Do you have a website?
Answer: On Facebook at:
www.facebook.com/#!/LoriAnnSchulz
Question: Thank you for this wonderful interview, any words of wisdom for your readers?
Answer: Keep an open mind and listen to yourself before listening to others.
